My Background
As a dedicated community leader with over two decades of involvement in Southwest ISD and extensive military leadership experience, I am uniquely positioned to serve as a trustee for the district. My proven track record of accountability, mentorship, and commitment to excellence, combined with my active participation in various community organizations, reflects my unwavering dedication to the success and well-being of our students. With a solid educational foundation, a philosophy of altruism, and a deep understanding of the district's needs, I am poised and ready to return to our seat and advocate for equitable opportunities, foster student growth, and ensure responsible stewardship of resources.

Education
Understanding the experiences and struggles my three sons and the students of Southwest ISD endure after crossing the stage has been pivotal. Leading by example in the pursuit of college degrees—sometimes even do it Together— This educational journey has been a core part of this endeavor. This conviction propelled my initial bid for the school board in 2018, a commitment that didn't waver through my tenure from 2020 to 2023. Rooted in the belief of firsthand understanding, I embarked on this educational journey six or five years ago, aiming to fully comprehend the path our SWISD graduates navigate.
As a veteran grappling with learning disabilities and aware of the ticking clock, this journey presented numerous hurdles. However, each challenge presented a chance to grow, and every setback only solidified my belief in our students' potential. My journey was a testament to the possibility of overcoming obstacles to reach educational aspirations. This endeavor was more than a personal quest; it was a declaration that educational success is within reach, no matter the adversities students faced.

This path was not straightforward. It was fraught with complexities, and at times, my learning disabilities severely tested my determination. Yet, in each hardship, I discovered resilience, bolstering my conviction that SWISD students are equally capable of achieving their educational dreams.

Continuing community volunteer work before, during, and even after serving as a trustee of a school district is immensely significant for numerous reasons.:

Community Connection: It helps maintain and deepen the connection with the community you serve. By volunteering, trustees can better understand the needs, challenges, and opportunities within the district, fostering more informed decision-making.

Role Modeling: Trustees set an example for students, parents, and staff. Demonstrating a commitment to volunteerism encourages others in the community to contribute their time and skills, promoting a culture of service and mutual support.
Building Trust: Regular volunteer work shows that trustees are not just leaders but active participants in the educational ecosystem. This can build trust and rapport with students, teachers, parents, and community members, enhancing the credibility and approachability of the board.
Personal Growth: Volunteering offers personal growth opportunities for trustees as well. It can provide new insights, skills, and perspectives that enrich their roles as leaders, making them more effective and empathetic in their governance duties.

Enhancing Programs: Direct involvement through volunteer work can lead to better oversight and support of school and district-wide programs. Trustees can identify gaps, champion causes, and directly contribute to initiatives that improve educational outcomes and enrich the school community.
Advocacy and Fundraising: Being actively involved gives trustees firsthand experience of the programs and challenges within the district, equipping them with powerful stories and insights for advocacy and fundraising efforts.

In essence, continuing volunteer work after becoming a school district trustee not only enriches the community but also enhances the effectiveness and impact of one's role within the school district. It's a powerful way to lead by example, showing that commitment to education extends beyond meetings and decision-making to active, hands-on involvement.
